Digital Pen & Paper – FactoryScribe

Factory Scribe is a web based solution that takes advantage of digital pen technology.  The system is very light weight and does not change workflows; it only improves upon them. Data is collected in the same way that it is done today, paper and pen.  The difference is the users write with a digital pen, still on regular paper, and instead of having to manually input the data from paper to a system of record such as MES, LIMS, or ERP, Factory Scribe takes care of this (no manual data entry needed).

Below are a few of Factory Scribe’s functionalites:

  • Document management
  • Adheres to electronic signature 21 CFR part 11
  • Reporting
  • Data collection
  • Data validation
  • User management
  • Bluetooth compatible
  • User alerts & alarms
  • Production data management
  • Quality data management
  • Shipping & recieving data management

The system works by having the digital pen capture a user’s hand strokes digitally, as they write, and send that information to the Factory Scribe engine.  Once the engine has the data it processes it and coverts the handwriting to computer text where it can be validated for accuracy and transformed into an output file such as xml, csv, excel, etc.  From there Factory Scribe can forward this information to other systems or provide custom reports.  Another distinct advantage is that Factory Scribe creates & manages a PDF (no scanning required) of the original documents (including electronic signatures).  This is very beneficial when having to keep records on file for compliance reasons such as FDA regulation 21 CFR part 11.  For more information on Factory Scribe please visit www.FactoryScribe.com.

Leveraging on this technology Hyla Soft customers often see the following benefits:

  • Reduce non-added value time for dual data entry
  • Reduce human error during data entry (lost or incorrect data input)
  • Increase visibility of production with real time data
  • Improve workflows without changing them
  • Facilitate standardization
  • Adhere to Lean Six Sigma
